Sarband District, Tajikistan, March 1, 2012 – U.S. Embassy Deputy Chief of Mission Sarah Penhune and USAID/Central Asian Republics Regional Mission  Director Erin E. McKee met community members of Sarband Town, Sarband District during the opening ceremony for the Tajikistan Safe Drinking Water project funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). Community members assembled to celebrate this new system which will provide safe drinking water to 14,921 people. The ceremony included a performance by local schoolchildren on the importance of safe drinking water and good hygiene to stay healthy. 

Dushanbe, 02 March 2012 – In the conference hall of the Ministry for Land Reclamation and Water Resources of the Republic of Tajikistan, under the guidance of the Minister for Land Reclamation and Water Resources, will take place the Second meeting of the Inter-Ministerial Coordination Council (IMCC) on drinking water supply with participation of representatives from government ministries and agencies, donor organizations and financial institutions involved in the development of water supply and sanitation (WSS) sector.  

Project is financed by International Development Association of World Bank- the Manager of Grant trust fund of European Union for emergency prevention of crisis in food prices. Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and International Development Association was signed on September 03, 2010 and was endorsed by the President of the Republic of Tajikistan on October 22, 2010, Order No. 949. Total Grant amount is 7 416 750 EURO (or equivalent of 10 012 612 USD).

Pakhtaobod Village, Tajikistan, December 6, 2011 – U.S. Ambassador Ken Gross and Tursunzoda district Chairperson Davlatshoh Gulmamadov participated in the opening ceremony of a safe drinking water system in Pakhtaobod Village in the southwest Tursunzoda region. 

 Tajikistan, January 25, 2011 – Necia Quast, Chargé d’Affaires of the U.S. Embassy, visited Chashmasor Village in the Faizobod District to officially handover a newly rehabilitated community water system.

Dushanbe, 11 November 2011 - In the conference hall of Kohi Vahdat in Dushanbe, the Ministry of Land Reclamation and Water Resources of the Republic of Tajikistan launched the first session of Inter-Ministerial Coordination Council on drinking water supply (IMCC) with participation of representatives from government ministries and agencies, donor agencies and financial institutions involved in the development of the water supply and sanitation sector.
